It is controversial to say, but most product roadmaps are formally documented lies. This graph is a better representation of truth that offers executive/external stakeholders transparency into what agile product teams are really thinking and how they are holistically planning their future work. What problems are we trying to get our head around (e.g., discovery)? What solutions are we working through (e.g., design)? What are we implementing (e.g., development) that will drive positive impact now? This framing sparks meaningful, healthy debate and leads to more trust, smarter resource investments, and better products.
